Hymns for Lent Number 6

During Lent, I’ll be writing six hymns that capture the spirit of reflection for the season. I will publish them on Sunday mornings. All the hymns will be set to well known tunes, so they will be easily shareable and singable upon reading.

Hymn 6 is titled Sing, Sing My Heart and can be sung to the tune of O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing (AZMON), or any other tune that uses the common meter.

Sing, sing my heart! And praise my voice

To God who dwells on high

Who sorrows with us in our woes

And sighs with us in sighs.

Sing, sing my heart! Now sing my soul

To God who comes beside

To comfort those who loss, who mourn

Who weep and beg and cry.

Sing, sing my heart! Sing unto God

Whose arms sustain in grief

Who treasures, loves, and comforts those

Who are lost in unbelief.

Sing, sing my heart! And praise my soul

For God is ever near.

God reconciles us all to God

God wipes away all tears.

Sing, sing my heart! Sing evermore

For God our help is come

And we shall see God’s lovely face

Be the good work God’s begun.
