3 So she named the Lord who spoke to her, “You are El-roi,”[b] for she said, “Have I really seen God and remained alive after seeing him?”[c] Genesis 16:13 NRSVUE
Here in the waste, the wilderness of doubt
Where thorns and dust and brambles choke the ground
I sit beside the well and pray aloud
My call a cry, a plea, a mournful sound.
Will God see me? Will God find me?
Will God comfort, heal, remind me
That where I go, there he will be?
God is God who sees. El Ro’i.
Can ever prayer ease heaviness of heart?
Will ever tears bring life to what is dead?
Can water burst from streams that have run dry?
Will I be cleansed and bandaged where I’ve bled?
Will God see me? Will God find me?
Will God comfort, heal, remind me
That where I go there he will be?
God is God who sees. El Ro’i.
And there within the wilderness of doubt
God meets me there, revealing things unseen
God asks me where I’ve been and where I’ll go
And shows the path, the future planned for me.
God will see me. God will find me.
God will comfort, heal, remind me
That where I go there he will be.
God is God who sees. El Ro’i.
