Candy Boy

I got a candy boy

Didn’t even mean to

He was there waiting for me

And he didn’t even know.

A sweet one, like maple

Or a honeycomb

Raw, like from the cane

A delicious taste for

When I feel like crying

Falling apart as things

Go spinning

Or go swimming

But he scoops up me

Like a bit of ice cream

That perfect curl of chocolate

On top. Makes me

Delight in goodness

In staying soft, in staying whole.

Right there for the taking

Right there, waiting

My candy boy.
