Didn’t you know that erosion will

Eventually

Create a stunning landscape

Which cannot be conceived of

Unless you look with your own eyes?

That after eons of wind, salt, rain

The once majestic peaks belched up

From ocean depths will

Turn verdant and wild

As soil finds its way into every crease

Every crack, every crevasse

A fertile ground for

Stem and leaf and flower?

That centuries after the fiery flow of rock

What will be left will be a paradise

Unlike anything else on earth?

A garden of Eden in the vastest of seas

A place that makes you forget

Every eruption that ever threatened you

Because you see with your own eyes

How erosion has made the once black mountains

Green.
